COMMENTARY
Never
Again ...
The
African American community is once again
reeling
from the caustic and insensitive manor in which the news media
has covered the after effects of this deadly hurricane.
This
is the most devastation visited upon the African American community
over a one week period since slavery.
Instead
of receiving the most urgent attention by the local and national
government official, we have witnessed delay after delay, and
excuse after excuse.
You
and I know that if the Canadians or any other "white"
country would have been affected this traumatically the news media
and our government would have been more sympathetic in their expressions
and much more effective it delivering emergency services.
Why
can't our government work for us as effective as it would for
other? This question will not be answered here. But, we must never
let this happen again.
Every
individual responsible for all the negative press, delays and
indecision about resources should be held responsible.
We
will not let this pass with criticism of the faceless institutions
but we will identity each person and do our best to hold them
accountable.
We
you see a negative report, or public official and reporters being
unduly critical of the devastated citizen - family member - pleas
email us. From all over the county, we want to hear from you.
It
is our time to say "NEVER AGAIN". We hope all of our
friends that has cried with us and count us as brothers and fellow
citizens share in our disappointment.
